It really adds alot more to the experience.

For example.

Sleeping is a necessity
Eating is a necessity
Drinking is a necessity.

They didn't overdo it though, your scale starts at 0-1000. 0 meaning you don't need to eat, drink, or sleep. 1000 your ass is dead! After playing for 2 hrs my Sleep deprevation was only up to 168/1000. So it does take a while to fill up these meters.

Changes to the game that are noticeable.

First. is the fact that you can look down the sights of EVERY weapon now. Before in FO3 you'd only zoom in a small bit and the hit detection outside of VATS was garbage. They fixed the hit detection and now fighting w/o using vats is more enjoyable.

Second. Wearing clothing that matches a faction actually disguises you now! before you were recognized no matter what. Now as long as you put on a disquise out of sight you'll be recognized as a friendly to that faction. The only way your found out is by being hostile or a scout or dog for that faction gets too close.

Third. Attitudes/emotional attachments to your character can change with people kinda like they do in the Fable games. Being nice to people and helping them out helps your relationship with that faction or person. Which in turn will unlock future missions or items you may not get otherwise!

Taking Damage: No longer do stimpaks heal you instantly in HC mode. they take a few seconds. SO taking your time and leveling up your character has become more important now than just running blindly into the wastes. Broken limbs are no longer healed with stimpaks, you either need to visit a doctor and pay them or have a medic bag on hand which will fix the wound.

I'm only a level 3 but these are things i'm experiencing so far.

Sounds fun. I'm still just going to wait for Black Ops for my last new game purchase of this year.

I can't get enough doctor's bags, especially when I have to fight a bunch of Nightkins that keep breaking my arms with rebar clubs. I think that even on hardcore limb damage should heal over time unless it's broken.

I'm loving FO:NV so far. It feels really similar to the last one, but with some minor tweeks that make it just a little better as you mentioned. I can't wait to get home today to pop it into the Xbox and just zone out for a couple hours

You bought MOH so now your not getting BO!!!! Your killin me Derp! Go trade MOH in and get BO! The DL says so!!!!! Grrr!

Sall good though because even getting BO I;m not going to leave BC2. BO will be my game to go to when noone is online playing BC2. If a bunch of friends are on playing BC2 I'll pop BC2 in.

how much better is hit detection without VATS? like is it as easy to hit enemies as it is in borderlands?

i want this game but it would be social suicide seeing as i'm already spending most of my free time playing mass effect 2 and halo reach

The hit detection isn't perfect, its not a traditional shooter, but compared to last game it is vastly improved

I've noticed that.

I'll be upgrading alot of my resistances in the coming lvls.

I accidentally trigger two mines between Goodsprings and Primm after killing a convict. Yup that crippled my left leg and arm! FUUUUUUUUUUU No

Chewy: The hit detection and outside of VATS combat was drastically improved. I aim at a geko's head from 150' away with the bolt action it actually hit the head!! OMFG.

Dragon: I'm torn because i have a lot of friends that want me to get BO but i'm afraid of the similarity to mw2. plus I LOVE FABLE!!!

Terry: yes this game is awesome. Despite it being graphically like FO3 it plays alot better. INSTALL it to your Hard Drive if you have not.

Some guns, like the Laser Pistol, do not have iron sights. You aim with it like in Fallout 3.

I already posted my thoughts on Hardcore mode and the game in general in another topic, but I'll post some more thoughts:

It adds a lot of challenge, and prevents you from doing stuff like pausing the game and using a bunch of stimpaks to make you invincible. The pip-boy pauses the game, but healing items only heal you over time. You have to exit the pip-boy to heal, so you can't spam stimpaks in a gunfight unless you find cover. Also, I noticed that in this game, you take damage from enemies while in VATS, but in Fallout 3, you were invincible.

I also love how the guns in this game actually sound like guns. In Fallout 3, the guns sounded awful, especially the assault rifles.

The Mojave wasteland is much better than the Capitol wasteland. The Mojave has plant life and just feels more alive. It doesn't feel dead like The Capitol Wasteland, but it still feels like a post apocalyptic world. There are no repetitive and annoying metro tunnels that made D.C. a maze. I also like the added touch of sandstorms in the desert.

I still haven't gone to New Vegas yet, so I don't know what it's like. I'm about 8 hours in.

9mm pistol is the most badass sounding thing I've ever heard. Actually I just found a 10mm SMG and it sounds pretty fucking cool too.

I got the weathered 10mm smg from the free dlc code. it does some pretty good damage.

I also got the vault 13 canteen. I like how whenever you drink from a water source your canteen is automatically filled.

I'm only level 3 but i just finished the helping the people of goodsprings quest against Cobb. His group got trolled hard when they entered town.

So far my only evil deeds are hiding and taking ammo from the NCR and Convict campsites. GIMMMEE DAT AMMOZ!!! Twisted Evil

That sounds awesome. The only reason I'm holding off on NV is because it will suck me in and I won't play the other games I want to try. I've been planning on getting this at a later date. Probably when the version with the packed in DLC comes out and there's a dry spell on new releases... next summer maybe.

But after reading this maybe I'll just go get it today and only play it when none of you are on BC2 or BO... decisions, decisions Very Happy

Same here. BO will be a nice change of pace, but I know I'll still be playing BC2 for a long time to come. At least until BF3.

I got a DLC code when I didn't even pre-order. I'm not sure if I want to use it because I've heard about a few glitches happening with DLC. I already can't get terminals to work which is annoying enough.

I pre ordered, but I didn't get a code. It was supposed to be in the box, but it wasn't there.

I'd love to buy this game, may trade in reach considering I am starting to want to play more realistic shooters now and FO is a game I want badly D:

I didn't pre-order either! they just gave me a copy, and inside was the code for the armored vault suit,canteen,5 stimpaks and a weathered 10mm pistol.

I instantly installed the game to my HDD after playing 10 mins of the game and having slight but noticeable hiccups. Now it runs great! *fingers crossed.

Now to future items? I have well enough points to purchase vietnam in december. BO is tempting but IDK i'm very leary even though treyarch made the game. And I've thoroughly enjoyed both Fable games, fable 3 comes out next week and I really like the options available in game play there..... We'll see!

Anyone know the trade in value of reach? I thought about trading it but I think I'll hold on to it now that I was able to scrape enough cash for BO.
